Fire 'Em All

It's the time of the year when the politicians rise
Putting on their best disguise
I don't need a governor out shakin' my hand
Stumpin' on a campaign trail
Tryin' to make me believe he stands
For the good of the commonwealth

I say we fire 'em all
They think they're demigods
Let's hire some folks who can do an honest job
Fire the senate, the house and the president
Let's fire the whole damn government
Fire 'em all, fire 'em all, fire 'em all, let's fire 'em all!

We all know what happens when they finally take the chair
all those campaign promises just fade into the air
They'll blame it on the budget, they blame it on the past
Blame it on the poor
Say they need to raise more revenue
And higher taxes is the cure

Fire 'em all, fire 'em all, fire 'em all, let's fire 'em all!

They say they're workin' for me, workin' for you
Won't somebody tell me what it is they do
Politicians in their granite towers
Putting on a big facade
Surrounded by wealth and power
Stringin' us all along

Fire 'em all, fire 'em all, fire 'em all, let's fire 'em all!

I know it's my job to keep tabs on them
I wrote my letters to my congressmen
Made lots of telephone calls
Stood in lots of protest lines
Tried breakin' through those solid walls
Hopin' they'd see the light (they didn't)

I say we fire 'em all
They think they're demigods
Let's hire some folks who can do an honest job
Fire the senate, the house and the president
Let's fire the whole damn government
Fire 'em all, fire 'em all, fire 'em all, let's fire 'em all!
