3.5 Specifying conversion settings

What happens after you dismiss the Choose Project dialog or the or Set Up Project dialog depends on whether you specified RTF (Word, WordPerfect, WinHelp), HTML (XHTML, XML, HTML Help, JavaHelp, Oracle Help for Java), or an intermediate (Frame MIF only, ASCII DCL only) output format:

RTF, MIF:

Configuration file mif2rtf.ini opens in Notepad so you can edit it to modify conversion settings. See also §4.2.6 Using Conversion Designer for RTF output (deprecated).

HTML, DCL:

Configuration file mif2htm.ini opens in Notepad so you can edit it to modify conversion settings.

Run the conversion the first time with just the settings you specified in the Set Up dialog, then fine-tune after you examine the output. Always make the fewest changes you can, and only after trying out the defaults; we work hard to make them right.

You can keep Notepad open while trying different settings, using File > Save in Notepad to update the configuration file (see §2.3 Working with Mif2Go configuration files), then File > Save Using Mif2Go... in FrameMaker to run the conversion again.
