4.2.1.2 Specifying an HTML or XML output format

Mif2Go provides the following types of HTML output, plus ASCII DCL; Standard is the default. You specify the output setting in the mif2htm.ini configuration file:

[Options]

; Output = Standard (default, HTML), MSHHelp (HTML Help), JavaHelp

;  (Sun), Cross-platform OmniHelp, EclipseHelp, OracleHelp (extended

;  JavaHelp), DITA, XHTML, GenXML (generic XML), Book (DocBook XML),

;  or AsciiDCL.

Output=Standard

The values you can specify for Output have the following effects:

Standard

Mif2Go produces generic HTML Version 4.01. This is the usual choice for most purposes; see §12 Converting to HTML.

XHTML

Mif2Go produces XHTML 1.0, which is XML that uses the HTML tag set, with a few exceptions. Most browsers display XHTML as well as they display HTML. See §12.1.9 Using XHTML tagging rules for HTML.

GenXML

Mif2Go produces generic XML; see §12.3 Supplying values for the <head> element.

DITA

Mif2Go produces .dita, .ditamap, and .bookmap files consistent with the draft DITA 1.1 specification. See §14 Producing DITA XML.

Book

Mif2Go produces .ent chapter files for DocBook version 4.4. See §16 Producing DocBook XML.

MSHHelp

Mif2Go produces the HTML Help project file, contents file, and index file for you, as well as the topic files. See §8 Generating Microsoft HTML Help.

Cross-platform OmniHelp

Mif2Go provides viewer files and produces control files; contents, index, search, and related-topics files; and HTML or XHTML topic files. See §9 Generating OmniHelp.

EclipseHelp

Mif2Go produces plugin manifest, TOC, and index XML files, and XHTML topic files. See §11 Generating Eclipse Help.

JavaHelp

For version 1.3, Mif2Go produces the helpset file, the TOC file, the Index.xml files, and the map file, as well as the modified HTML 3.2 needed for topic files. See §10 Generating JavaHelp or Oracle Help.

OracleHelp

Mif2Go produces pretty much the same output as for JavaHelp.

AsciiDCL

Mif2Go produces only .dcl files from your FrameMaker document, and does not convert them to another format. See §4.2.1.3 Specifying MIF or DCL as the output format.
