Conditional Text and Modified Formats Graphics and Special Characters Advantages over Frame 5 RTF Filter Support and Enhancements |
There’s always room for improvement. There are a few things we’d like to do that we don’t do yet, and a few more that we may never do. In that latter category is better support for imported graphics in formats other than BMP/DIB or WMF, when there’s no FrameImage facet for us to grab. We can produce the equivalent external files using Frame’s internal graphic export filters, but resolution is limited to that of the screen; this is OK for WinHelp, but poor for print use in Word. We do support "externalization" of imported graphics, such as EPS or TIF graphics, into separate files, so that you can use an external graphic conversion program to convert them to BMP or WMF form. There are numerous shareware and commercial graphics converters available from other sources; we suggest you have a look at the shareware Graphic Workshop ($45), which does excellent batch conversions. And if the format is one supported by Word, we provide a quick and easy way to have Word do the work, even if you want to go to WinHelp. At this point you may be thinking, “That all sounds great, but how do I know this filter really works as they say it does? What if it botches my job?” A good question, as way too many software vendors seem to think that once they have the money, it’s your problem, not theirs, if their product doesn’t work. Don’t you just love those “warranties”, in all caps, that say they are responsible for nothing, and the most you can expect is replacement of defective media? We think those warranties are bad jokes. We won’t ship a product we can’t stand behind. If you find something wrong, we thank you and fix it; you get the fix at no charge. Immediately. If you’re one of our customers, and are the first to suggest a new capability to us, you get it free when we build it regardless of whether you are still under warranty support. It’s our way of saying thank you, and of staying at the technical front edge of this constantly-changing industry. | ||||
